Though I could guess that the term datafication might be something related to data, I googled to find out the actual meaning of the term \u201cDatafication of Human Resources\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This was my first stop and I got a fairly good idea of what the term \u201cDatafication of Human Resources\u201d means: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/joshbersin\/2013\/07\/19\/the-datafication-of-human-resources\/\">http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/joshbersin\/2013\/07\/19\/the-datafication-of-human-resources\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Datafication means converting existing business into data business. \u00a0In other words, datafication involves storing large volumes of data and analysing it meaningfully which would benefit businesses greatly.<\/p>\n<p>Business can derive benefits from datafying <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2013\/01\/effective-performance-management\/\">performance management<\/a> as well. \u00a0I think that the main objectives of a business to datafy their performance management would be:<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2013\/12\/how-is-employee-retention-a-key-management-strategy\/\">Develop and retain talent<\/a>: Employees are a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2014\/06\/qualities-of-high-performing-employees\/\">company\u2019s greatest asset<\/a>, and companies would like to develop and retain talent.\u00a0 Since a lot of cost and efforts are involved in hiring and on-boarding new employees, an organization\u2019s top priority would be to develop and retain good talent that they already have.<\/p>\n<p>If HR is presented with good analytical data from performance management, they can take <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2014\/05\/importance-of-employee-appreciation\/\">targeted initiatives<\/a> to develop and retain the employees. Some <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2014\/04\/interesting-analytics-from-performance-management-system\/\">performance management reports<\/a> would that would be beneficial include Rating Distribution, Training needs report, Strengths and weakness report etc.<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2013\/10\/what-are-the-keys-for-making-performance-management-effective\/\">Improve Employee Performance, and overall organization performance<\/a> : Every organization would like their employees to work towards the organization goals.\u00a0 Also they would like to find out ways that employee\u2019s performance can be bettered all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Continuous feedback analytical reports, rating comparison, performance plan status reports, goal status, goal alignment etc. are some analytical reports that would be beneficial for improving the employee performance.<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.synergita.com\/2013\/07\/succession-planning-importance\/\">Succession Planning<\/a> :<\/p>\n<p>Business would like to plan their succession needs well.\u00a0 They would like to identify talent pool within their organization and promote them to key leadership roles within their organization.<\/p>\n<p>Performance management data would greatly help in planning the succession needs.\u00a0 Some such reports include 9 Quadrant analysis, Rating comparison etc.<\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pay for Performance:<\/p>\n<p>Performance Metrics is important for companies who have pay-for-performance or incentive plan based on performance, for it\u2019s employees. \u00a0Metrics like performance indicators, targets, actual achievement against targets etc. would be helpful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.synergita.com\/synergita-test-drive.html?utm_source=Blog&amp;utm_medium=Post&amp;utm_campaign=Raji\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5470 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/localhost\/synergitablognew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/synergita_test-drive-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newtest.synergita.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/synergita_test-drive-1-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/newtest.synergita.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/synergita_test-drive-1-1-300x44.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a nutshell, if organizations effectively analyse and use performance management data, they can greatly benefit from it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In recent days, I have been coming across the term &#8220;Datafication of human resources&#8221; quite frequently.
