The aim is to channel everyone&#8217;s efforts towards achieving organization&#8217;s objectives. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/localhost\/synergitablognew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/image-5-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7063\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/localhost\/synergitablognew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/employee-retention_4_paint4.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Performance planning would have to\nbe done at the beginning of each year, and at the end of the planning activity,\nall employees will have their performance objectives or goals clearly laid out\nto them, and they will also know how their goals help in achieving the overall\norganization goals. At the time of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.synergita.com\">performance appraisal<\/a> (or more frequently), the\nperformance of an employee on these goals can be measured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How\nto set effective Goals?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For goals to be effective, they have to be clear, meaningful, achievable yet challenging and measurable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure performs during the course of his work.\n&nbsp;So, it is recommended that it is should not be derived from the job\ndescription of an employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mentioned below are some examples\nthat will help to understand the difference between accomplishments and\nactivities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-&gt; Answering customer calls is an\nactivity, accurate guidance is an accomplishment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-&gt; Writing software programs is\nan activity, a software program that works is an accomplishment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-> Managing customer projects is an activity, satisfied customers is an accomplishment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" href=\"https:\/\/localhost\/synergitablognew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/activity-vs-accomplishment2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also it is important that goals are\nmeasurable against standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/localhost\/synergitablognew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/goals2_modified_paint.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance if we take the accomplishment \u201cSoftware program that works\u201d, specific measures can be \u201cNumber of errors reported\u201d, \u201cDeviation from estimated time\u201d, \u201cThe code quality based on review of code\u201d Improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a person to get Good standard,\nhe would have to fulfill the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Number of major errors reported\nafter a program is completed is less than 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deviation from estimated time is not\nmore than 1 day, and so on&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly criteria for Average and\nNeeds Improvement standards can be arrived at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits\nof Performance Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>If performance expectations (goals) are clearly set and      communicated to employees, everyone will work towards a target or      goal.\u00a0\u00a0 People who have a clear target have much higher      motivation to perform to their full potential and derive job satisfaction      than those who are performing just their routine activities.<\/li><li>Employees will also have a sense of purpose that their      work contributes towards achieving organization objectives.<\/li><li>At the end of the year, during the performance      appraisal, (and also through frequent reviews in-between the year), the      employees performance can be measured against the target.\u00a0 This would      help employees to improve the performance and thereby help in      organizational goal achievement.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
